I was standing on top of a sand dune beside the Stuart Highway about 70k south of Alice Springs on one of those moody grey days. I was looking for Rainbow Valley in the shadows of the ranges in the distance when suddenly the monument wall was lit up through the rain and gloom. It was a magical experience!
