I pulled my car off the highway and ran down a track toward a family of Black-shouldered Kites, one adult and two fledglings, hovering near Alice Springs, Central Australia. The adult dropped down to the ground and came up flying toward me, then up flew one of the fledglings to take one of two mice from the adult.
