Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in a studio in San Leandro Ca

Time

Picture was taken about 2pm

Lighting

One strobe with a big strip soft box on the left and above, another on the right. Stars were a 65second exposure at ISO3200 f3.2 at 18mm Red and bluish swaths of color were drawn in my hand

Equipment

I used a Sony full frame camera with a 24-70mm lens and two external moonlights (big strobes)

Inspiration

The wings as props and trying to echo it in the sky

Editing

There was a fair bit of post processing as it was a composite. Model was cut out in photoshop. Stars processed separately and added in. Swaths of Red and Blue hand drawn with Photoshop.

In my camera bag

I normally just carry what I think I need and maybe a spare battery and such. Very little.

Feedback

Work with your model. Let them know what you are trying to achieve. Show them the images on the back of the camera and if something works out well send them a copy. You are a team. Actually if you have help with lighting, makeup, etc. you have an even bigger team.
