This photo was taken on the island of Taquile, Peru. After walking up a ancient stone path that leads up from the boat dock, this is the first sight you see before reaching the summit of the island.Time
It must have been about 11am there. It’s a few hours ride across Lake Titicaca to reach the island. We left early and made it to the island just before lunch time.Lighting
The sun was high and the lighting was anything but perfect. But the island had a way of making the light soft even though there was hardly a spot of shade at the moment.Equipment
This was taken with my handy dandy Iphone7 plus. Taking lots of camera gear was prohibited ( not a lot of room on the boat.)Inspiration
The ancient architecture itself is what inspired me. You have to see it in person to really understand. But this arch was like a portal to the past, specifically a past culture that still thrives on the island.Editing
Yes, a lot of post processing actually. I took it in less than desirable lighting conditions, with a less than desirable camera. So I just trapped played with the contrast, saturation, shadows, and hue to achieve the final product. In my camera bag
Normally I carry around my canon 77d with a always handy ultra wide angle lens and a 55mm lens. Always have a tripod on hand as well but I find I seldom use it. The most important gear I carry is the field cleaning kit to keep things as sharp as possible while I’m out and about.Feedback
What advice can I give? My eyes are my own and almost every other person will see something completely different. But that’s the beauty of this art, right? My only advice I feel comfortable giving is to use your eyes and see beyond the stacked stone and what ever you capture is just as amazing as what a “Pro” would/could capture.
