A double decker swinging bridge consistently entirely of vine and roots of a single tree in the jungle beyond Cherrapungee,
Meghalaya state, northeast India. Estimated to have begun weaving about 500 years ago, this example of natural art and function is one of only two known examples in the world. The approach was through a layer of steep jungle ravines about 25 km beyond Cherrapungee. Cherrapungee is co-record holder of "The Wettest Place in the World" recording 930 cm ( 1,042 in-86.8 ft) of rain in a single month. The name of the Indian state, Meghalaya, translates as "Land of the Clouds", which is also most appropriate.
