Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at an oil shale mining park in Kohtla-Nõmme - at 83 feet underground, in one of the mining tunnels.

Time

During the day.

Lighting

It was very, very dark (since the picture was taken underground) and most of lighting was provided from these overhead lantern type lights, which in turn ended up overexposed on the picture, but to me they add to the vibe and work in this context.

Equipment

A very old Sony a290 that I take with me whenever I think I'm not actually going to shoot anything.

Inspiration

I didn't think I was going to shoot at all, because it was underground and lighting wasn't great, but I happened to be there and the tunnels very much reflected the era they were actively used during and I couldn't pass on the moment.

Editing

Yes - it required post-processing in order to have anything usable, since the tunnels were very dark and often with a single source of light.

In my camera bag

Sony A7 III, Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM lens.

Feedback

Be patient.
