The mass sky lantern release at Lanna Dhutanka temple in the Mae Jo district of Chiang Mai province. The lantern release is the culmination of a kathina robes offering ceremony and is usually held in November. This photo was taken last year on my two-day visit in Chiang Mai. The Mae Jo event is not the Yi Peng Festival which many travel websites and blogs used to associate.
