After a 5-hour journey from Bagan, I arrived in Mandalay around 4:30 PM. I immediately asked the hotel staff to help me find a taxi driver to U-Bein Brrige. It was a good option since I'm in a hurry to catch the sunrise. When I arrived at the bridge, there were too many tourists and photographers on the bridge and even at the foot of the bridge. Someone yelled at me because I blocked her spot. Luckily I had a telephoto so even I'm far away I can get a glimpse of people crossing the bridge. I remember I took this at around 5:45PM.Lighting
What's nice about the timing, the sun sets directly in front of the bridge so it creates a good silhouette of the people walking in and out of the bridge. I just waited for the golden hour for a high contrast warm light.Equipment
I used Nikon D750 attached with Sigma 70-300mm.Inspiration
I think the spot is famous enough and there are too many versions of it in the internet. It won't be complete if you miss this tourist location when planning a trip to Myanmar.Editing
I corrected the white balance and bumped the contrast a little bit to create a good separation of background and the people.In my camera bag
Everytime I travel, I make sure I have the following: 2 cameras to eliminate changing of lens (1 for wide shot and 1 for telephoto), ND/GND filters, sturdy but lightweight tripod.Feedback
Being a known spot in Myanmar, it is expected that there are many tourists and photographers on this area. Be early to get a good spot. Avoid blocking other people as courtesy to them since they also want to capture a good scene. Be patient and wait for right timing. Better if many people are crossing the bridge with gaps in between.
