A friend and I went hiking on what started out to be a beautiful sunny day (ended up turning into overcast). The trail we hiked was called Reed lakes and this photo was taken on the upper portion of reed lakes. I was aiming for a reflection shot, but I absolutely loved the rugged terrain.

This is fireweed, a local edible plant. I drove to the back side of JBER (Air Force base) where there was a good patch of them.

After a section of the controlled burn simmered off, there was one snag still burning.
