It was 80 degrees Fahrenheit out and this poor lady was all bundled up. I tried to help her move her buggy to where she was going and she said no, so I tried to buy her something to eat and drink but she would not let me do that either. She may not have much but she still has her pride.

She is obviously very clean. I see the baggies on her hands and the plastic around her waist to keep her cloths clean. Resourceful but what a testimony to life in 2017.

A good documentary/street shot Cher. Very touching image and glad that you tried to help. Many do not want people within their personal space which is too bad but I am sure she is approached by all sorts if she lives on/or close to the streets. There was a woman in Oshawa when I was growing up and she was similar. My Dad was in the Bank one day and commented on her situation to one of the tellers and she told Dad that she actually had 'thousands' in the Bank - unfortunately she had 'mental' issues and lived on very little. She had always been that way. Whether she had thousands in the Bank or not - it always made me very sad to see her picking through the garbage for food to eat. So very sad. Excellent focus/exposure here Cher. One nice thing, she looks very clean - I hope she has found some happiness in her lifetime.

What a story-teller - wonderfully shot, Cher. You were kind to try to help her. Good observation by Chuck - she also still had pride in her cleanliness. Heart-breaking.

I used to go to career days and we handed out coffee mugs to get people to stop by our booth. After the conferences I would take the left over boxes of mugs to the Mission for men. For months afterwards I would see the men outside the mission sitting on park benches or sidewalks clinging to their mugs. They don't have much but are very protective of what they have left. I can see that story in your capture... a very proud lady. Would love to hear their stories.

I wonder what the attraction is to bags, other than making a good rain coat? Nice capture!
