Location
The photo was taken after a 30 minutes walk across wet sand to an island known as Little Eye, off West Kirby, Wirral, UK. It looks good in colour but changing it to black and white made it unusual and spectacular, a rainbow in black and white! The rainbow 'lands' near an old lighthouse close to the Royal Liverpool Golf Club - where the Open is often held.Time
Access to the island depends on the tides s it if often cut off from the mainland. The window of opportunity was in the afternoon this day - just after some heavy rain has passed.Lighting
The passing rain freshened up the air and everything was crystal clear. The sky is always dramatic here, especially enhanced by the reflection off the wet sand.Equipment
The only equipment was my handheld Canon EOS 40DInspiration
This location is always inspiring. I once walked out here on Easter Day early in the morning to watch the sun rise next to a cave on Middle Eye, the next island alone. It reminded me of the Easter story of The Son Rise.Editing
The picture was 'as God provided it' except for the Black and White button on my computer. In my camera bag
I never go to a place like this without my camera. Canon 40D, now also a Canon 500D enabling video to be shot too.Feedback
Try Black and White, even on a rainbow, and be surprised!
