Actually, I have no idea! I was just fascinated and had to get a pic. Looks like the little guy is a goner, though. :)

The larger one is Not a bee. It definitely looks like Carpenter Bee... But It's a species of ROBBER FLY That mimics the Carpenter bee.. Called a Carpenter Bee Robber
Fly. Things giving his disguise away:
That Beard, Antennae are more Fly like, The Shape of his Compound eys, as well as and how they pose the wings. (Carpenter Bees, 'Can' fold their wings one over the other like this, but it's not common for them to do so.)

But Lastly, And most importantly, The Robber fly is Eating that bee. Carpenter bees don't do this.
