Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on my back patio with my Samsung phone. Hibiscus are one of my most favorite flowers and I had been trying to get a decent photo of the red ones for a couple of years now.

Time

I took the photo in the afternoon, I wish I could remember what time. It was a gorgeous, sunny day and these flowers were almost glowing in the afternoon sun.

Lighting

I wish I had some useful insight about the lighting, but I don't. It was a beautiful, sunny day so I didn't need any extra lighting at all!

Equipment

This was shot on my Samsung Galaxy S4. No other post processing was done, not even a crop.

Inspiration

My inspiration was from the flowers themselves. My Viewbug page shows my love of them as I'm constantly trying to take a better photo of the flowers in my gardens.

Editing

I did no post processing on this photo, not even a crop. I like to try to get as natural a shot as I can from everything that I photograph. Over processed photos are not my style.

In my camera bag

I'm an amateur! I love the convenience of my smart-phone and I find that I've been using that more often recently. My "good" camera is a Sony Cybershot, now a few years old, but I still love the pictures that I get from it. Someday (when the kids grow up and move away) I may be able to afford a more 'professional' camera.

Feedback

Get close, as close as you can, and fill the frame with what you love, whatever that may be! The pictures will almost take themselves.
