Behind The Lens

Location

This shoot was taken at a local park where I live. I'm always taking photos for my company's annual reports, and this is a favorite spot of mine.

Time

I believe this was mid-afternoon when the shadows were in overactive mode.

Lighting

Lighting is something I often rely on nature to handle for me. Why mess with perfection? If the shadows cause a bit of darkness, I might tweak the settings a bit, whether at that moment or in post edit.

Equipment

I think this was shot with my Canon D60, but I also use a Canon T6 for work, so it might have been that one. I often use both on the same shoot, so I don't have to be constantly changing lenses.

Inspiration

The serenity of the moment caught my attention and the reflection, combined with some awesome shadows, appealed to my eye. I feel the quietness of that day everytime I see this photo.

Editing

The overhanging trees caused some darkness, but I was able to use the camera settings to create the most realistic lighting. I don't recall any post processing adjustments.

In my camera bag

I carry my personal Canon D60 with two lenses: standard and a zoom. Sometimes I bring my tripod, but I admit I have been caught without it on occasion. Also, if I'm on the clock, I have the Canon T6.

Feedback

Take in your surroundings completely. Don't think something is too simplistic or not interesting enough. Experiment with angles, lighting, settings and perspectives to bring your vision to those who will see your work. Make sure they see things through your eyes.
