Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on Hunting Island in South Carolina

Time

It was close to noon. The weather was perfect with a blue sky.

Lighting

The lighting was all natural. There was no real need to use any equipment or special lighting.

Equipment

My camera of choice that day was Nikon D3000. I was free-wheeling it with no tripod. I believe the lens was a 75-300mm.

Inspiration

I was photographing the couple for their engagement announcement, and I had seen some similar versions of the “She said yes!” layout. Since we had sand, which is always a great tool for message photos, I decided to use the beach for emphasis.

Editing

I think this photo was exactly as photographed, if I’m recalling correctly.

In my camera bag

I don’t go anywhere without at least two lenses, sometimes more, and the camera varies from my Nikon D3000 to my Canon 60D. Sometimes I use a Canon Rebel t6, but not as often as the other two.

Feedback

Patience. Be creative and take lots of shots. Technically, I kinda got lucky on the shot because the subjects were extremely cooperative and the day couldn’t have been more perfect. So I would be remiss to offer advice technically except: grab that perfect moment when you can. It’s those moments that make all the other moments worth the effort.
