On a lark, during poor, overcast and slightly rainy weather conditions, drove out to Griffith Park in Los Angeles (45 minutes away) with my wife to visit a museum and-or take some pictures. Upon arriving at the park, the gray clouds began to lighten and break open to stunning blue sky. I decided to head for the Griffith Park Observatory, on the chance that the weather would continue to break, presenting me with some great photo opportunities. The risk paid off!! This shot was taken from the roof of the observatory itself. The strong winds had pushed back the cloud cover almost completely by early afternoon, when this was taken. That is the skyline of downtown Los Angeles in the distance (about 7 miles away, as the crow flies)! The view was amazing in every direction.
