Perfect clarity so I drove up to Moke lake... but there were too many people there, and photographers hoping for aurora, car lights and headlamps.
Then I remembered a while ago Jake and Joanna did a nice image from not far away so I headed there for a bit of peace and quiet. Apart from shots interrupted by passing cars it was a very nice spot.
I put on my trusty waders and thought I'd whip around the lake across a swampy looking zone maybe only 30 metres wide. Well that almost earned me some swimming practise. Seems even a one metre gap between snow tussocks can be bottomless. Some desperate gymnastics involving being horizontal, and using the extended tripod for balancy jumps had me across. I struggled to find a water edge tripod stance solid enough. This was a bit perched on tufts with water between and I'm surprised it came out reasonably sharp. It took ages to get this mosaic shot with car interruptions. Then afterward I only managed to squeeze in one more of the same scene as the whole sky started to fog over. I stubbornly went back the same "shortcut" way across the lake outlet and it wasn't much easier. Worthwhile because this makes my eyes happy and will likely end up on my wall.
