Behind The Lens

Location

This Photograph was taken near Bournemouth, England. I had driven the 40 miles to get some lovely soft light morning shots, when I arrived a thick fog and fallen and rendered the light almost unusable, well for my expected, and planned photos. However seeing the positive in every situation, I continued my shoot. A cheap Cokin Grade filter helped to smooth the final water, and gave the faint colour twist.

Time

This was an early summers morning, time upon arrival was about 05:30/0:600

Lighting

The extra tint of colour was nothing more than a lucky change to an old Cokin filter, coupled with the morning light for this extremely strange colour.

Equipment

I use a canon 70d, placed with a tripod & as previously mentioned a Cokin Grade filter. lenses would have been a canon18/55mm if memory serves me well

Inspiration

I always try to see the world from a different perspective, and after visiting this pier previously at different times of the day, my plan was a tranquil morning shot.

Editing

Apart from a little shadow lifting, this was pretty much all that was needed. In my opinion.

In my camera bag

I now carry 3 lenses, a wide angle, a 50mm prime, and a canon 100/400mm mk2 usm. I have a 2x converter plus assorted grades filters in cluding some ND 10 to fit the wide angle and the 100/400.

Feedback

I always try to turn a negative into a positive as you cannot adjust the weather, so if whilst out the lighting conditions change. Embrace them as you never know what may come of you being taken out of your comfort zone.
