I recently I recently took this photo in linville gorge. It's worth noting that I served six years as an infantryman in the United States Marine Corps. While on deployment to Afghanistan I noticed something thing that really stood out to me, it was brightness of the stars in the desert sky at night. Sometimes when I was laying down to sleep. Or occasionally I would gaze off into the sky admiring how clearly you could see the stars without all the light pollution we had at home. Well unfortunately not all of our battalion made it home from that deployment. So now when I see the stars my mind drifts back to Afghanistan, and the friends we lost there. This photo with the two shooting stars gave me chills,
