Behind The Lens

Location

Nelson Ghost town in Nevada outside of Las Vegas.

Time

It was around midnight.

Lighting

Make sure your camera can handle night shots without significant noise. Know your settings and how far you can push them.

Equipment

Nikon D750, Nikon 14-24mm f2.8, MePhoto tripod and basic shutter release.

Inspiration

The area has so much going on I did an 8 photo stitch to the full milkyway arch over this scene. I wanted to capture as much of the milky way with the collection of vintage everything below it.

Editing

Lightroom with some exposure tweaks and and some selective brushing and also to stitch the photos together.

In my camera bag

Nikon D750, Nikon 50mm f1.4, Nikon 14-24mm f2.8, Shutter release, cleaning kit and MePhoto tripod.

Feedback

Make sure you know your settings and camera capability. Keep the plain even as you move the camera on the tripod and extra pictures can't hurt in case you need to fill in spots of your stitch. Most of all have fun!
