Location
I know several other photographers, and we often meet at the studio of a photographer who teaches free classes in studio lighting using whatever models and photographers randomly show up. On what we called a field trip, we wandered around downtown Albuquerque taking photos as we went. This shot resulted from some clowning around between two models. I noticed how their hair was the exact same color, and both heads seemed to merge into one, so I took that shot.Time
4:00 pm.Lighting
Still plenty of light, but not as dark.Equipment
Canon 40D, a 28-200mm Aspherical IF lens. No flash, no tripod.Inspiration
The hair, and the way it blended two people into one.Editing
I always inspect every photo on my computer after transferring them. I look at the composition, and if it doesn't meet my idea of what I saw, I do some cropping. Daylight hours are great for landscape photography in New Mexico, but the extremely harsh sunlight easily washed out colors, so sometimes I add increase the saturation, or alter the blue-green balance in order to more closely resemble the photo I thought I was taking. I like things to look exactly as I saw them in the viewfinder window, because that is what prompted me to take the photo. In my camera bag
Nowadays: a Canon EOS 60D, a Canon 75-300 telephoto lens, a Canon 50mm lens, a Canon EF-S 60mm lens, and a Canon EFS 18-55mm lens. Also, an external flash, an extra battery, and two extra memory cards.Feedback
Be observant, even when you're not expecting to take a photo. This was the very last photo I took that day.
