When staying at my parents' in Taranaki, I headed out with my Dad once the kids were in bed as a full moon was on the rise. I knew if I could line up the shot right and wait, the moon would rise over the peak of Mt Taranaki. Was thrilled I got the shot.

It was summer, I think it must have been about 8-9pm. When staying at my parents' in Taranaki, I headed out with my Dad once the kids were in bed as a full moon was on the rise. I knew if I could line up the shot right and wait, the moon would rise over the peak of Mt Taranaki. Was thrilled I got the shot.Lighting
I had no additional lighting equipment, just the natural light of the moonEquipment
Camera: Canon EOS REBEL T3i (600D) Aperture: f/4 ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 2/1 Focal Length: 35/1 Camera mounted to a tripod with remote shutter release. I was positioned on top of a tall pile of gravel left by some contractorsInspiration
I had seen something similar done by another photographer with the full moon rising over The Remarkables mountain range in Queenstown, this image was my take on that one.Editing
I had to do a little processing after in Photoshop, slight correction of white balance, adjustments in curves, levels and contrastIn my camera bag
I have my Canon 600D, Canon 5D Mk iii, Canon Speedlite 600EX II-RT, Canon EF 24-104mm lens, Canon EFS 80-200mm lens & Canon EFS 18-55mm kit lens. Various SD cards, batteries for the Speedlite and both camera bodies, remote shutter release, micro-fibre lens cleaning cloth.Feedback
With this kind of shot is was partly right time, right place....I had to move quickly as I knew my window was tight, I was lucky that my parent's place was only a 5 min drive away. So I guess you could say it was a case of seizing the opportunity.
