Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Watertown, CT. at VFW 7330.

Time

This image was taken indoors with studio lighting.

Lighting

This was part of an ongoing project about aging war veterans. That day I photographed 12 veterans from WW2 to Viet Nam. For the dramatic lighting, I used Alienbees AB1600 with an Elinchrom Rotalux Deep Octabox 100 cm. The background is a Savage canvas backdrop that I repainted myself.

Equipment

Camera was the Fuji GFX 50S with the GF 63mm f/2.8. Manfrotto tripod. PocketWizard Plus III Transceivers.

Inspiration

The goal was to try to raise awareness and (possibly) funds to help these aging war veterans, many of whom are long forgotten and could use some help.

Editing

Very minor post done in both Lightroom and Photoshop, more just basic colour correcting and cropping.

In my camera bag

my main camera system is the Sony A7rII with Zeiss 35mm and Voigtlander 65mm lenses.

Feedback

Lots of planning, and always be very respectful of the subjects you are trying to help.
