I'm currently preparing a book about this tree to be published by Tellwell Publishing, Victoria, BC. The tree measures about 185" in circumference at the base. It would have begun growing during the reign of King David or King Solomon in Israel about 1000 BC.
I've been documenting this tree since 1978. It's also the oldest living organism in Alberta!

A new seedling sprouted at the base of the tree on the right about 15 years ago and is now about 4" tall.

The exact location of the tree will not be revealed because of security concerns. Suffice to say it's readily accessible from the David Thompson Highway. It has suffered minor vandalism.
