A GigaPan panorama of Whirlpool point on the North Saskatchewan River along the David Thompson Highway in Alberta. Near the centre of the image is the oldest living Limber pine tree in Canada, and the oldest in the world which has been there for at least 1200 years..no, make that about 3000 years. Core samples taken in 1986 counted 400 rings in a 10 cm (4”) sample

On the left side of the photo in the distance are two fishermen and their dog walking on the ice...you might not see them in this low res. image, but you can certainly distinguish them when you zoom into the high res. GigaPan.

The North Saskatchewan River begins in Banff National Park at the terminus of the Saskatchewan Glacier about 40 km upstream from here and flows clear, cold and pristine until the main run-off begins to add a lot of silt, much of which settles out into Abraham Lake reservoir about 10 km downstream.
This is a GigaPan panorama. 45,000 pixels wide, 880 megabytes.
