Canada 150, the official tulip of Canadas' 150th anniversary, was unveiled in 2016. This year, some 300,000 of the new hybrid bloom (most attractive) will be showing in the official flowerbeds of Canadas' capital region, Ottawa.
National Capital Commission partnered with the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Communities in Bloom and Home Hardware (which has exclusive right to retail the bulbs) to select and distribute these blooms.
As Canadians, we are really very honoured by the original gifts of the Netherlands' royalty (gifts of millions of tulip bulbs after WW2) as well as by Canadians' love and thoughtfulness that presents this intensely beautiful vista to our sight after freezing winter months.
