My photographic calendar tells me it is Day 126 of 365, but quite frankly I'm past caring. This is the last image of our handsome Golden Labrador, Ben. I took this with eyes full of tears, sobbing my heart out because I knew when we took him to the vets surgery on Sunday morning he would not be coming home with us ever again. At ten and a half he was suffering with advanced arthritis, could no longer use his right front leg to stand on and had little control over his back legs. As much as my wife and I were unready to let him go it was the kindest thing we have probably ever done for him other than giving a loving home just over nine years ago. He has filled our lives with such joy and laughter (as well as a some annoyance as some piece of food disappeared from the table or work top only to end up in his tummy). He was full of life and bundles of character. We are left with a huge hole in our lives but I'd like to think that now he's is no longer in pain that he's giving the angels a lot of pleasure as he charges about in heaven.
