We did the Tongariro Crossing on the sort of day people usually opt out of hikes, it was cold, theres were lots of low rain clouds and we were dreading getting back to the car soaking wet. We got very lucky and only experienced a light drizzle for about ten minutes and0 in fact welcomed the cool rain on the grueling climb uphill. When you reach the lakes you realise why you've been hiking for the past three hours, the view is phenomenal! Looking past the lakes was like looking at a scene out of the Lord of the Rings!
