Gibson Mill was one of the first generation mills of the Industrial Revolution. The Mill was driven by a water wheel inside and produced cotton cloth up until 1890.

I'd seen lots of images of the mill, and decided to capture it from my view. I was hoping for a mirrored reflection, but there was a slight breeze blowing when i took it..

Taken with my Sigma 30mm f2.8

Behind The Lens

Location

Gibson Mill, Hardcastle Craggs West Yorkshire

Time

This was taken probably just after midday, after a long walk through Hardcastle Craggs

Lighting

All lighting is natural,

Equipment

Camera used was Sony A6000 with a sigma 30mm f2.8 lens,

Inspiration

I've had Hardcastle Craggs ona photo bucket list, but didn't make it to the actual Craggs part. I spotted the mill on the walk-up and then took the opportunity to catch this shot. Ideally I would've liked the pond to be still as I originally wanted a reflection shot.

Editing

Some post processing was done to add about of drama to the clouds in the sky.

In my camera bag

Always have, Sony a6000, a6300. Sony50mm f1.8, sigma 30mm and the standard 18-55mm kitlens

Feedback

Sometimes it's best to do some research if you are visiting an area, then you can pre-plan your shot, this shot was spare of the moment and I think I took several shots before I got the settings right.
