Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the pool at my house. The sun sets just behind it making the perfect reflection.

Time

This was around late afternoon during summer.

Lighting

The late afternoon summer sun in South Africa is often a beautifully dark orange colour. It's reflection across the water gave the perfect lighting to capture the rippling and movement of the water.

Equipment

I used my Nikon point-and-shoot camera.

Inspiration

I've always enjoyed swimming in the late afternoon and love the surreal feeling the sunset gives the water. It inspired me to try to capture the calm and magical quality.

Editing

There was no post-processing done on this image as the lighting and colours worked perfectly.

In my camera bag

I almost always have my Nikon point-and-shoot camera strapped to my belt or in my bag. If I plan on taking photos then I use my Canon professional camera.

Feedback

If you feel inspired by something, try to capture it. Take as many photos with as many different angles and lighting. Practice and take every opportunity to work on your skills.
