This bottlebrush flower, or callistemon to give it its proper name, still has some of its buds unfurled, and those bundles of shiny, curled up red filaments reminded me of that red bootlace liquorice that we used to have as kids. Although the shrub is native to Australia, this was taken in Singapore.
