Did a flour shoot, as you can see . The photo was cropped to get rid out the unwanted area as it was taken outside, and I changed it to black and white to bring out the flour, my daughter did the rest.

This was taken outside in full sun, we have a big back yard , so the mess was not an issueTime
It was a great day, no wind and no clouds, we went out side around 4 pm after doing a few other shoots we wanted to try something different and messy.Lighting
As this was outside and in the afternoon, the lighting worked out perfect. I have tried to do a similar shoot at a different time but I ended up with shadows or the the face was too dark. We were also in the open so nothing could cast any funny shadows or lines, so if you are going to try this i recommend in an open area.Equipment
I have a Canon 80D, i used my 24mm lens. The best piece of equipment i used was the tripod, there is no way I could i got this shot without one, As i hadn't long had my camera I used the action setting.Inspiration
On Instagram I came across a post from Grace Pulver Photography of a flour shoot she had done and I thought I would give it ago. I loved the different ways a few others had tried this shot and my daughter loved the idea, we have gone on to do many flour shoots and chalk shoots since this first attempt.Editing
I cropped the original photo to get a closer aspect and to get rid of the unnecessary background, I also decided to change the image to Black and White to bring out the flour clouds. In my camera bag
I always have my macro lens and my 300mm lens with me as i love taking shots of the same thing but in different views. My batteries are always charged and I make sure the SD cards are ready to use. I made a recent purchase of a underwater housing bag (just a cheap one) and I love it, so if I'm going anywhere I have it with me as you never know when you might need it.Feedback
Don't be afraid to try it, i had so much fun with this shoot that my daughter and i have done it 5 more times since this first try. If you don't like Black and White keep it in color as it still looks amazing.. You will be surprised at how many great shots you will end up with. Timing is everything but if you have a couple of hours to play, then have fun with it. Move around to get your different angles. Like all things in life, When you think positive, good things happen. Have fun and create your masterpiece.
