Meet TJ! This pic was taken in our backyard in Winnipeg, Canada. It was early spring of 2017. The snow had melted and then had frozen into ice!Time
This picture was taken in the late afternoon. I remember feeling so grateful that our little red squirrel had survived his first winter.Lighting
The lighting that afternoon was magical. The ice sparkled like diamonds and this, in turn, set off the red coat of this little squirrel.Equipment
The camera I used was a Nikon D70S. The lens was a Nikon 18-200 mm. At that time, I was just starting out in photography, and had borrowed my huband's equipment.Inspiration
The inspiration for this pic was an affection we have for this little red squirrel. We discovered him as a baby. He was in poor shape. His eyes had clouded over and he was shaking. We set up food and a bottle of water in the apple tree. Surprisingly he lived, and soon became boss of the yard.Editing
The picture was not modified in any real way. The lighting might have been reduced somewhat to minimize glare. In my camera bag
I am a beginner and now have my own camera. It's an entry level Nikon B700. It's compact and easy to carry. I also bring along an extra battery. In the future, I might upgrade but for the time being, it suits my needs ... and skill level. (:Feedback
My advice, is simple. Just keep a camera handy, whatever it is. Nature shots are never planned. It's just the luck of the draw. Have fun ... and good luck!
