Location
Sunsine Coast, Sechelt Peninsula, British Columbia, Canada.Time
I was working on the Sechelt Paninsula doing Butterfly and Dragonfly surveys. I document and photograph when I can all species. This was on the 3rd of July 2008 at 3:25 pm when I came upon this beautiful female Rocky Mountain Apollo resting on the a granite rock. This female had recently mated and the male had sealed the opening so she could not mat with another male. If you look at the end of her abdomen you can see a white hallow.Lighting
The light was soft but bright being lightly overcast.Equipment
Point and Shoot. Canon Powershot SX100IS Hand heldInspiration
Any time I see great beauty I try to take the most expressive and beautiful shot i can even if I am just documenting something and creature.Editing
No this is as it was.In my camera bag
All I usually have is the Canon Powershot SX100IS as I need to travel light across the land as I survey.Feedback
Take you time with Butterflies let them get used to your percents. I have had some that have let me move them with my finger once they believed I was no threat.
