Who doesn't come upon an old structure, especially one that was lived in and think about who they were, what they did, what it looked like back then and where did they go? I was always amazed when in Alaska, days from anywhere I'd run upon an old settlers or trappers cabin. The work and fight it took to set out into the unknown and settle in a place nearly devoid of others' and of a future uncertain to even yourself. The stock of people who built this and the others' who came before are tough to see in the descendants today. Melancholy and great interest always occupy the finding of these remnants.
