The Causeway is located in the Flat Tops Wilderness of northwest Colorado, USA. The Flat Tops area is a large, very high elevated plateau. Glaciation has carved many deep, steep valleys. As in other glaciated areas, when two glaciers back up to one another, and head-cut towards each other, a narrow ridge or arete is left dividing the two valleys. Here, the ridge dividing the two valleys is mostly about 50-feet broad. But on this section, about 100-feet long, only about a 4-foot width remains. On either side is a sheer 80-foot to 120-foot fall; below that sheer drop are talus slopes at 60-degrees for another 300-vertical-feet or so. So if you were to fall off the Causeway, you would fall sheer for about a 100-foot height, then roll down talus for another few hundred feet.
Not having a head for heights, I crawled across the entire length.
