A colony of 200 endangered Stellar sea lions inhabit a natural sea cave 11 miles north of Florence, Oregon. They enjoy the protection from the winter in the cave , part of the Cape Perpetua marine reserve, until warm spring weather prompts them to leave for rookeries where they give birth and breed. Stellar sea lions are the largest sea lions in the world. Bulls can weigh up to one ton and can be as large as a Volkswagen beetle.
