Location
I captured this photo at River Edge Farm Horse Rescue, a m large animal rescue facility near me.Time
This was taken later in the afternoon in late August. It’s been a few years so I don’t recall the exact time.Lighting
This is all natural lighting with editing in Lightroom.Equipment
Taken with a Canon T2i and a basic kit lens 18-55mm.Inspiration
I am forever in love with horses and everything about them. I have been going out to this rescue for years capturing images for them to use on their webpage and social media. If I can capture an image that helps that horse find a home, I will do my level best to get it done.Editing
This one didn’t require a lot of post processing, believe it or not. I underexposed to capture the sky and brightened up the mare in Lightroom. In my camera bag
I’m still building my equipment bag but I always carry my 24mm 2.8 STM lens. That little pancake is fantastic and was my first lens purchase. I also have a 75-300 which is my beater lens, so to speak. My body is a t7i crop. Currently looking into the 5D miii or miv. I always carry a reflector with white, silver, and gold options, a number of items designed to make sounds to get the ears or attention of whatever animals I’m shooting, extra batteries, SD’s, and cleaning kit.Feedback
Just play with what you have. This mare was not particularly cooperative, loved being away from everyone. We had to work our way towards her without her catching onto us and spooking. Play with your settings, play with your editing tools, etc until you feel comfortable. In the beginning, don’t be scared to lose a few shots.
