These crocuses grow in a window box on my front porch, which makes it easy to be on eye level with them. It also means the mice don't eat them before they flower! I'm very much an amateur, but love photographing flowers, butterflies and birds, and, of course, my dogsTime
This was taken early afternoon, during the winter. It was light, but cloudy day. I didn't have a tripod, and was trying out my new camera, and close-up rings which my brother had given me for my birthdayLighting
The light was quite diffuse, but there was enough to show the veingin on the petals. I sprayed the flower with a small droplet spray to give extra texture - I didn't think of it like that - it was a question of "oh, yes, I like that effect"Equipment
I used my Canon EOS 700D with its standard 18-55 mm lens and a 21 mm macro extension tube.Inspiration
I enjoy taking photos of things that are beautiful but would normally be overlooked. I have suffered with depression, and I find photography of this sort helps me stay on an even keel - looking at life from a different perspective. I can't belive I said that, but let it stand. If it helps anyone else even a it, that is greatEditing
Very little, I don't know how! Do a bit of cropping, and sometimes sharpening, but I don't remember doing anything to this oneIn my camera bag
Oh. I dont carry a bag, I carry the camera, usually with 75-300 mm lense on walks, and take what I need into the garden.... I have now invested in a Tamron 18-400 lens and a Canon 50 mm lens, and my brother gave me a tripod. I also have a bird hide in the garden.Feedback
Look at things with different eyes, from a different perspective.... watch the light - in the UK we often get amazing back lighting, especially early in the morning and late evening. I was given a piece of advice which I follow - keep shooting, you may have to delete 599 shots, but the 600th will make up for it.
