Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Pearl Harbor when on a cruise with my mum to celebrate her 70th birthday. My dad should have been the one with her but he passed away the December before.

Time

Pearl Harbor was somewhere I had to go I couldn't not go. No way I was going to Hawaii and nor going here to pay my respects to many who lost their lives that fateful day.

Lighting

It was a typical sunny day for Hawaii. I took this from the memorial one of the most surreal moments of my life standing above the Arizona. Very emotional for me knowing I was standing essentially above graves of men who were lost.

Equipment

Canon D100 with Canon lens 18-135 EF-S

Inspiration

If you've ever seen the movie Pearl Harbor you'll understand why.

Editing

No post processing none of my photos posted on here have any processing what you see is how they were taken. I haven't got to grips with Adobe find it too complicated.

In my camera bag

My canon 750d I've upgraded to my 18-135 lens my pack of filters, tripod, timer remote and flash.

Feedback

Take it with your heart and I think the feelings you have do the rest. I'm grateful that everyone has appreciated this picture so much. I'm not sure it merits them as I don't think I'm a great photographer but it seems to have captured perhaps the hearts of others and I couldn't wish for more if it has conveyed something meaningful to others.
