This shot of the last light of the day kissing Cradle Mountain has been 10 years in the making for me. I have visited and stayed at Cradle Mountain countless times and each and every time sunset has either been cloudy and grey, or perfectly clear skies with no clouds. On this night as I arrived for sunset about an hour early I could sense that something special was going to happen. I patiently waited and while I was in the middle of a 4 minute long exposure I could see the clouds starting to light up right on the peak of the mountain. I very quickly switched lenses to the telephoto and set up the NiSi Filters 3 stop soft grad and snapped as many shots as I could in the minute or so that this light lasted. After so many attempts I can now say I have seen some awesome light over Cradle Mountain. Hopefully it doesn’t take me another 10 years to see it again .
