If this doesn't get a feature, then there is no justice in the world.

Behind The Lens

Location

Bull River BC

Time

10AM

Lighting

Multi flash set up comprised of 4 flashes

Equipment

Canon 7D, Canon 70-200 f/2.8L Lens, Gitzo Tripod with Wimberley head multi flash Sunpak 544 at 1/32 power for faster strobe

Inspiration

For several Years I have been going to this location to capture the hummingbird arrival in the region, Normally one or two hummingbirds of the same species visit our set up at one time, here three hummingbirds representing the three different species that frequent the area arrived at the same time. I was lucky enough to capture them in this position where they were not blocking the view of the other hummingbirds

Editing

Nothing special, just converted fro Camera RAW to .jpeg and.tiff using Adobe Photoshop

In my camera bag

Canon 7D and 1D MarkIII, Canon lenses 70-200 L series, 17-35 f/2.8 L series 400mm f/5.6 L series100mm macro, two 540 flashes, polarizer for each lens Gitzo Tripod Wimberley Head

Feedback

patience as there will be long spells of no activity them everything seems to happen at once followed by inactivity. When the hummingbirds visit, no sudden movements. They may spook at the first sound of the camera, but they become used to it very quickly
