Location
I hiked just over four hours into Husband Lake and set up camp after sunset. The next day I walked to Eileen Lake and did a loop around the area. That evening, as the clouds rolled in, I went back to Eileen Lake hoping for some sunlit clouds. It didn't look like things were going to work out but a break in the clouds allowed for this photo and others in a short amount of time. I hadn't seen another person in the two days and nights I was there EXCEPT for the time I was taking these photos. A ranger was talking to me as I was trying to concentrate on capturing images.Time
Sunset. Was likely around 8:45 pm.Lighting
Mother Nature provided the lightning. She's got billions of years of experience. ????Equipment
Nikon D600. ND filter to smooth out the slight ripples in the water.Inspiration
Just look at the scene. It was hard but to be inspired.Editing
I tend not to do too much post-processing. Just add and saturation, clarity, sharpening. In my camera bag
Nikon D850. ND and Polarizing filters. 17-35mm wide angle zoom. 50mm prime. Other lenses depending on the situation.Feedback
Just get out there and create photos! I don't get out nearly enough but I'm always thinking about it. Don't be discouraged by potentially bad weather conditions. For this photo I was discouraged by the cloud cover. I wasn't going to make the walk from camp to the lake. But, I saw that there was potential for the sun to peek through. And it did! For about 10 minutes. And this is the shot I ended up with.
