On the way home from school, a pigeon lying on the ground with its belly facing upwards caught the corner of my eye. Initially, I thought it was dead as it was pretty much motionless. Then, I decided to take a photo with my phone as my camera was not with me at that time. I had to climb over a barrier (on a bridge). With closer inspection, I was dismayed as it was breathing! Lying under the hot sun with its feather damaged, it was helpless and could not do anything. It was not only emotional but also depressing as I had no idea what to do. I could only watch it suffocating on its death bed. As you can see, one of its eyes was still opened.
