Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken by me in one of the most soulful weddings for my career. Not far from the city of Neryungri, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Russia.

Time

It was the middle of the day, we just started to go on various attractions of the city. And it was the second stop at the bell, a monument to the dead miners. The time was about 3:00 pm

Lighting

Light in this day was absolutely unpredictable. Sun often peeped from behind the clouds, but the more time it was covered with clouds and chilly mist. At the time of shooting the sun for the most part it was blocked by fog, which provided soft light

Equipment

When shooting, I used my old camera Canon 6D, the lens from Tamron 24-75mm F/2.8. No other equipment is not used

Inspiration

We were about to go away from this place, when the sun began to go beyond the clouds, when I drew attention to the road and the mist from the cold on her background. Painting Adds epic tall trees. I immediately told the couple to run up on the center of the road, because it was cold and everything froze. The guys looked at me and asked, "What do we do ?!". I looked at the composition of the frame, and said, "Just a Kiss".

Editing

Yes, I did post-treatment photographs, as I do with most of their photos. In this photo processing, I tried to convey the atmosphere of the cold, but did not want it to be too aggressive. Therefore muted black color in the photo. I'm also a bit allocated fog in the background.

In my camera bag

Certainly bag is complete without a camera. Now it Canon 5D mark III, at that time it was the Canon 6D. The lens, which I shot this picture, unfortunately, is already broken. He could not stand the harsh conditions in which I often have to shoot. Now it takes place in a bag lens Canon 24-105mm F / 4.0, as well as always with my lenses Canon 28-300mm F / 3.5-5.6, Sigma FishEye 15mm F / 2.8, Flash Canon SpeedLite 600EX.

Feedback

The main thing to be able to notice the unusual in the usual places. The rules of composition in this regard can be very helpful. Therefore, study them as much as possible. After all, even to disrupt them, it is necessary to know how to do it. And yes, when shooting in such cold weather, and it was about -40 degrees Celsius, be sure to wear warm gloves :)
