The typical image of a peacock is of the male because of its colorful plumage. However, the female peacock is also very beautiful, just in a more subdued way. That is nature's way of protecting the female bird and thus the baby birds which may be in the nest. This peacock was wandering freely through Brookfield Zoo near Chicago, IL.
