Location
Whilst travelling in Scotland, I visited the Isle of Mull and came across this beauty of a wreckTime
It was late afternoon on a January dayLighting
The day was fairly overcast, which gave a great even light. This worked well and helped bring out the detail in the wreckEquipment
I travelled light, so only had my Canon 6D with EF24-105mmInspiration
I knew that the Isle of Mull was going to throw up some interesting shots. I've seen many shots of this wreck from the shore, but with low tide I was able to get out in front of the boat for a more interesting shot.Editing
I used Lightroom and Photoshop to bring out the detail in the Boat. My car was also parked on the far right (silly mistake) so Photoshop removed that with ease.In my camera bag
I'm a Canon Shooter. A couple of 6Ds and a carry round G7 x MK II. Lenses range from 70-200 L ii 2.8 to 16-35L ii F2.8 and many in-between. It all depends on the location and expectation for the day. My trusty Manfrotto 190 Go is a great balance between stability, weight and cost.Feedback
We all look at other people's work - there's no better way to get inspired, but always look for a different angle. A slightly different slant on an image can make a unique piece that stands out. Knowing the basics of your camera is important, so join a local Camera Club that teaches. Clubs can often be the best place for inspiration as you explore the art of photography together. This is why I set up my Club for the local community - we try different techniques and showcase our work where we can. Competition can be good, but there are no monthly competitions at my club. We get down to the practical work of creating together. .
