When it comes to rating natures unique designs of how things grow, then the ferns of this world would have to be up there as the most unique.
The Ponga Fern or "Silver Fern", as it is more often known to Kiwi's(New Zealander's), is the fern to which most Kiwi's adhere to as their national symbol of their homeland identity.
This is, because of its underside leaflets silvery colour, is what is featured on the black & silver fern flag that Kiwi's tend to wave madly at major sporting or social events, other than our national flag.
A mature fern, in ideal conditions, can grow up to ten meters tall.
