Behind The Lens

Location

I took this in a little village in Ireland where I live, it is a fishing pond with wheelchair accessablity, it was a lovely crisp calm morning

Time

I took this early one frosty morning, my son wanted to enter the local school photography competition, the theme was cold/ winter, I took the opportunity to take a few while out with him

Lighting

The sun was starting to shine and gave nice natural lighting

Equipment

I used a canon 700d hand held

Inspiration

I was walking around with my son trying to stay warm and trying to show him how I would frame the shot, he wanted to enter a competition in school, turns out he didn't need my help as he went on to win the competition with a lovely photo of that building at a different angle with a lovely reflection of it in the still water infront of it which is now hanging in my hall

Editing

I was messing about on photoshop when I came across this filter and I thought it really suited this shot

In my camera bag

I have my camera, 3 lenses, low pass filters, a cleaning cloth for the lenses, and believe it or not, a soft make-up brush incase dust gets on the lens, rather than wiping it with the cloth and risk scraping it I give them a quick brush first, I sometimes have a shower cap in there too

Feedback

Don't try to get everything into the picture, focus on a feature that you like and get a small bit of what's around it into the picture
