I've got to a point in the challenge that I hosted (Leaves) where I'm left with 18 pictures, only, any of each could basically be chosen as the top one. I LOVE this image. It's intriguing, it's mysterious, it's strong, and it's beautiful. The spot of color/light in contrast with the surrounding darkness adds a lot of character to the image. Great sharpness and short depth of field. There's only one thing that I think is missing: post-processing. There are some light spots in the background that I found distracting and, above all, the main leaf and the one that only appears partially on the bottom are covered in what seems to be dust and some bird "stuff" or paint spots. This excess of "dirt" attracts my eyes still more than the light spots in the background. Still, there were 3,935 entries in the challenge and your image is here, among the top 18.
